Ceramic Paint Under Clear Glazes

Question: Hello Steve, I have been browsing through your website which I have found very informative and I have a question for you.

I would like to paint my pieces, then clear glaze them after in order to seal the design. Could you give me some pointers as to which paints I could use?

Thank you.

Answer: Tracy, thanks for the question. Here are two great options for you. They are underglazes that you can paint onto your pots much like regular acrylic paint.

The difference between these underglazes and regular paint is that you can then clear glaze them and fire them to seal the pot. They are also lead free so if you use a food safe clear glaze you would be able to make functional dinnerware!!

Does that answer your question?

On the other hand, if you are wanting just to paint your pots with paint and NOT fire them I would just use a regular Acrylic Paint Set

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have other questions.
Steve
